Content Editor Web Part

October 8th , December 10th , and January 14th – 10:00am - noon

I met with several staff members to demonstrate how SharePoint could be used in their classrooms.  After demonstrating its features and editing techniques, I worked 1 on 1 with teachers to update, create, and modify their websites.  I did this over the course of several staff development trainings throughout the year.  I served as a mentor to many staff.  Since I was working with a large number of staff it was hard to try to assist each of them 1 on 1 in a timely manner.  In this professional development time, staff were able to create a SharePoint site and learn how it could be used in their classroom.

Monday April 18th 2:30pm

I met with Owen Sandine, the PE/Health teacher at McCook Central.  In my earlier professional development sessions Owen had created a SharePoint site that he wanted to use with his Health class.  He had two lessons that he wanted to put on his SharePoint for students to access.  Working with Owen I showed him how to upload lesson material to his SharePoint site.  He uploaded his PowerPoint’s, which the students then downloaded and using the Ink feature in PowerPoint they took notes directly on the PowerPoint.  Once the lecture was complete, students accessed a worksheet that was on the SharePoint site.  They used their tablets to complete the worksheets and submitted them via email to Owen.  I showed Owen how to create a document library for students to access that he could put all their class materials.

Owen’s lesson was on the muscular system and nervous system.  He was using this material with the freshman, I too taught a freshman level class, so decided to incorporate his subject matter into my classroom.  I was having students create Glogser Posters, so students created a Glogster on either the Muscular or nervous system.  They uploaded and included 4 pictures, 1 video, and text to support the topic.  Together we were able to tie Health class with Freshman Computer class.

Throughout the course of this year I worked with several teachers to integrate technology into their classroom.  I supported them throughout the entire process whether it was answer questions or providing them with equipment to use, I feel I was able to help a lot of teachers this year, and because of this, I feel it increased their comfort level with technology.
